Book release „Shaping Cities in an Urban Age“
Publishing events in September in Venice and London
The Urban Age project has investigated urbanisation processes for over a decade, culminating in the book „Shaping Cities in an Urban Age“, edited by Ricky Burdett and Philipp Rode. This richly illustrated volume brings together authoritative research and fresh insights that explain the complexities of urbanisation. It identifies current trends that are making cities more fragmented, less equitable and environmentally more damaging, and argues powerfully for a more integrated social, environmental and spatial approach that can inform and inspire city-makers that are shaping an increasingly urban world.
With two events, the editors will present the book to the public, at first on 15 September during the Biennale in Venice with a panel discussion with José Castillo, Shelley McNamara and Jean-Louis Missika (invitation only, further information: https://bit.ly/2wbuPrt).
On 26 September, two days before the book will be available, LSE Cities invites to another panel discussion in London. Here, Eduarda LaRocque, Saskia Sassen and Nicholas Stern as prominent co-authors of „Shaping Cities in an Urban Age“ will be participating. The chair of the panel is Ricky Burdett. The event is public. For further details and information about the registration procedure: https://bit.ly/2vMl1oE
„Shaping Cities in an Urban Age“ is available from 28 September onwards. The book is the third and final instalment in the „Endless Cities“ series published by Phaidon. It can be ordered here: https://amzn.to/2BeAeUu
